Obituary of John M Cenate

John M. Cenate, 88, a resident of Victory Mills, passed away in his sleep Saturday, February 25, 2017 at home, surrounded by his family. Born November 24, 1928 in Addison, VT he was the son of the late Joseph and Mary McCabe Cenate. Mr. Cenate worked at several area mills, did carpentry work Charles Martin, and retired from NYRA in 2011. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by 3 brothers, Marvin McCabe, Joseph and Michael Cenate; and grandson, Travis Cenate. Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Theresa Cenate of Victory Mills; 2 sons, Peter (Beverly) Cenate of Greenwich and Phillip Cenate of Victory Mills; 3 daughters, Jacqueline DeGarmo (James) of Schuylerville, Jerri Cenate (Steve), and Jamie Cenate (Dana) of Victory Mills; 9 grandchildren, Keith, James, Tyler, Julie, Erica, Jared, Joelene, Jay, and Margaret; 9 great grandchildren, Maikela, Kiara, Kiersten, Phoenyx, Addison, Isabel, Hunter, Thomas, and Kasey; 3 sisters, Madlyn Sanders, Patricia Harrington, and Bonnie "Marie" Keays (Robert); 1 brother, Ronald Cenate (Leighann); and several nieces and nephews. At his request, there will be no calling hours and a service will be held at the convenience of the family. Memorials can be made in his memory to the General Schuyler Emergency Squad or the American Cancer Society. Arrangements are under the direction of Flynn Bros. Inc.
