Obituary of Frank Owens

Frank Owens, 83 a resident of Greenwich, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday, April 2, 2024, at Albany Medical Center.

He was born on September 9, 1940, in Bronx, NY to the late Burl and Mary (Malone) Owens.

Frank moved to Salem, NY in his teenage years and worked on his parents’ farm.  Frank was always straight to the point, some may even say mean, miserable and a little bit rotten.  Make no mistake, he was extremely giving and worked hard his entire life to provide for his family.  Frank treasured his family, and his grandchildren meant the world to him.

He met the love of his life Connie Callahan through a mutual friend. They were married on November 28, 1964.  For 61 years they shared each other’s love and raised three children in Greenwich.  Together they enjoyed going to the drive-ins on hot summer nights and camping in Port Henry.  He retired from Hollingsworth and Vose, Easton Plant, where he worked as a machine tender.

Frank always attended every one of his grandchildren’s sporting events, he was their number one fan and always provided them with love and support.  His favorite holidays were Halloween and Christmas, as he enjoyed seeing the children’s happiness.  He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and MacBoston 18 Truck. In his free time, he enjoyed watching a good western and always made sure to clear any leftovers left on the dinner table.  He will be missed by all who knew him and will always be remembered as a great man.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his six sisters and one brother: three sisters-in-law.

He is survived by the love of his life Connie Owens, of Greenwich; children, Frank (Stephanie) Owens of Saratoga Springs, Tom (Linda) Owens of Greenwich, and Ann (Andy) Signor of Schuylerville; grandchildren, Amanda (Scott) Lightfoote, Ben Drew, Ryan (Morgan) Buell, Stephen Buell, Ethan Owens, Travis (Becca) Owens, Whitney (William) Catlin, Adam Owens, Jake Owens, Joshua Signor and Briana Signor; 3 great-grandchildren and 1 on the way; 5 sisters-in-law and 1 brother-in-law; special friend, Kevin Shepard.

Franks family wishes to thank Christie Booth, who was there day in and day out caring for Frank and family.  If it wasn't for Christie, Dad would not have been able to stay home for the last three and a half years. She was always there whenever the family needed her, and the loss of Frank is just as much of a loss for her as it is to the family.

A funeral mass will be held at 10 am on Saturday, April 6, 2024, at St. Joseph’s Church in Greenwich. Following mass family and friends are invited to the Greenwich VFW, 63 Abeel Avenue, for a gathering.
