Obituary of Esther May Carter

Esther May Carter, 92, a resident of Saratoga Springs and formerly of Easton, died Monday, February 22, 2010 at Saratoga Hospital. Born February 13, 1918 in Grooms Corners, NY, she was the daughter of the late Raymond M. and Mina M. (Scouten) Ross. Esther was a graduate of Mechanicville High School and retired from the New York State Department of Taxation and Finance. She was a communicant of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Greenwich and was a Past Matron of the Eastern Star in Greenwich. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a daughter, Shirley Carter Gibbons. Survivors include her beloved husband of 68 years, John M. Carter Jr. of Saratoga Springs; one daughter, Susan Cronin (Robert) of North Miami Beach, FL; one son, John M. Carter III (Elizabeth) of Easton; six grandchildren, Kathleen Cronin Jordan, Robin Cronin Clark, Edward J. Gibbons III, John M. Carter IV, Heather Carter Barrett, and Joshua M. Carter; three great grandchildren, and one great great granddaughter. A funeral service will be celebrated at 11am on Friday, February 26, 2010 at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Greenwich with Rev. Allen Peyton, officiating. Burial will be on Monday in the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery in Schuylerville. Friends may call on Thursday from 5-8pm at Flynn Bros. Inc. Funeral Home, 80 Main St., Greenwich. The family would like to thank the staff of Wesley Health Care Center for their many kindnesses.
