Obituary of Jeffrey L. Nevins

~~Jeffrey L. Nevins, 57, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, October 23, 2017 in the company of his loving family.

Jeff was born May 25, 1960 in Cambridge, NewYork, the son of Joseph and Mabel Booth Nevins.

He grew up in the Schuylerville area, graduating in 1978 from Schuylerville Central School.  Shortly after graduation, Jeff began his life adventure by traveling to Arizona where he spent the next 25 years.  As an accomplished mason, Jeff left his mark on countless homes and businesses that grace the desert southwest.  Upon returning to New York over a decade ago, Jeff was employed for many years by Spatial Dynamics in Mechanicville, NY.

In his spare time, Jeff enjoyed the beauty of nature and the great outdoors.  He was a gifted gardener who lovingly nurtured the flowers and plants in his care.  In addition, Jeff was a talented artist.  His beautiful batik murals capture the true essence of Arizona wildlife and landscape.  Jeff often took his creative abilities to the kitchen where he prepared scrumptious meals and desserts for his family.  In his quiet hours, he enjoyed listening to jazz and spending time with family and friends.

Jeff is predeceased by his father, as well as grandparents, Waldo and Mabel Orr Booth and Francis and Nina Harwood Nevins.

Left to cherish his memory are his mother Mabel; his daughter, Leah White (Spencer) and his new grandson, Johnathan Michael White of Georgia; his sisters, JoAnn Poirier (David) and Susan Weils (James); brothers, Michael Nevins (Ellen), Keith Nevins and Steven Nevins.  In addition, he is survived by several loving nieces, nephews, a great-niece and great nephew, and many cherished friends who will remember him always.

A graveside memorial will be held at 1pm Friday, October 27, 2017 at Maplewood Cemetery in Saratoga Springs.

The family wishes to thank Community Hospice of Saratoga for their support and guidance. In addition, our deepest gratitude goes to dear friends, Bill Manney and Dorothea and Jaiman McMillan.  Your loyalty and compassion brightened many days.  Your devotion has been an inspiration to us all.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations in Jeff’s memory be made to the charity of one’s choice.
